Following the advice of Krishna, four of the Pandava brothers set out
to conquer the four quarters.Yudhishtira stayed in Indraprastha.Bhima
headed East,Arjuna went to the North,Nakula went West and Sahadeva
went South.
Arjuna was successful in subduing Salva and Bhagadatta and travelled
as far as Mount Meru.He returned with precious gifts and wealth from
friends and enemies and achieved the title of Dhananjaya, the winner of
great wealth.
Bhima on his eastward trek visited places like Panchala,Mithila and
Chedi. He met with Sishupal and was well received. He visited Kosala,
Ayodhaya and again Magadha. In Magadha he was well recieved by
Sahadeva the successor to Jarasandha.
Bhima then proceeded to Lanka. There he met with Vibishana the King of
Lanka, younger brother of the ten headed Ravana and son of the sage
Pulastya.Vibishana also met with Ghatotkacha, son of Bhima from his
wife Hidimbi.Sahadeva had sent him there as an ambasador.Vibishana
accepted the invitation to the Yagna.
Sahadeva was well received in Chitrasena by the wife of Arjuna
Chitrangada and there he met with Babhruvahana,Arjuna's son from that
marriage.
Nakula's trip to the West took him to Dwarka. There he met with
Vasudeva, the father of Krishna. He also met with Balarama and Krishna
too.He paid a visit to the Vrishnis and invited them all to the
Rajasuya Yagna.Krishna and his entourage brought many gifts with them
to the Yagna and were well received.
Many kings were invited to the Rajasuya Yagna and they were all well
received and attended to.Comfortable seats were provided for all of
them and they were indeed very happy.
Bhishma,Drona,Kripa and Duryodhana with all his brothers and Karna
were present there.Krishna appointed Duryodhana to take care of all
the valuable gifts that were received from the various Maharajas
present there.
When Duryodhana saw the valuable gifts the Pandavas
received,he became absorbed in jealousy.Yudhishtira was blessed by
all the top specially invited guests. The Yagna was a tremendous
success and everyone was extreamely happy.
